The Business of Buzzwords: 10X
Welcome back to the Business of Buzzwords, where we take a look at where buzzwords come from, how to use them, and also one of the most popular buzzwords today!
Today, we’re breakin’ down one of the buzziest buzzwords on the scene: 10X.
What does it mean to “10X” something? If you read it as “10 times”, you’re not alone (and in a way, you’re right – more on that below). The term 10X is something you’ll see on our website – it’s a buzzword that transcended language to become a movement that’s taking the entrepreneurial world by storm.
So, what is 10X?
Pronunciation: “ten-ex”
Simply put, “it’s ordinary people learning how to create extraordinary lives.” But how, you ask? By pushing for 10 times the effort in areas of your life that are anything but extraordinary. In the world of entrepreneurship, this concept falls right in line with the all-or-nothing, strive for greatness, innovative mentality of start-up culture. And while it is far more easily measurable in business (ex. If you 10X your sales calls, you are calling 10 times more people than is your usual practice), this 10X mentality also can be applied to your personal life. As the creator of the 10X movement preaches, if you can 10X your business, you allow yourself more financial freedom, freeing your mind and emotional capacity to 10X your personal life… and living the life you’ve always dreamed of.
The making of a movement
Grant Cardone. NYT best-selling author, speaker, entrepreneur. Business and marketing guru. Larger-than-life character. The leader of the 10X movement.
Cardone is the ultimate 10X success story. A former addict and self-made businessman who pulled himself up by the bootstraps and single-handedly added a bunch of zeros to the new American Dream.
He’s a straight-shootin’, fast talker and his millions of loyal disciples hang on his every word. Who could blame them? Cardone’s confidence and no-nonsense attitude are intriguing to say the least, and even for his most skeptical audience, infuriatingly intoxicating.
Cardone believes in two equations: Money = Freedom. Freedom = Time for important things like family and helping others, and also giving back to the community through involvement in charitable work. While his unabashed display of wealth attracts very strong opinions on either side of the Cardone fascination, he welcomes the haters. Oh, and don’t you worry, he won’t even be able to see all those haters from the heights of his private jet, one of his favorite investments.
Gotta give it to the man, he knows how to promote. And he uses his powers to spread the 10X gospel to the world. To make a difference and give those who want it, his blueprint to financial freedom. So they, too, can enjoy a large slice of the pie. And live the life they’ve always dreamed of, both in and out of the office.
